Tonefloat was built in 2007 and was a musical milkfloat. Musical as in it played its bottles, controlled via MIDI from an MPC drum machine.
Tonefloat was conceived and built in response to a commission from Walk the Plank. Tonefloat played at municipal New Years celebrations at Newcastle and Edinburgh, festivals such as Tartan Heart in Inverness, WOMAD, The Big Chill and Henley on Thames as well as rock concerts supporting bands such as James and Faust. Members of the audience were always encouraged to join in and operate the float.
